The German prog-rock/metal band Syqem are coming to Holland for a mini-tour this November. From what I've heard on their MySpace page, they're a band very much worth seeing. You can catch them at the following venues:

7.11.2008: The Cave, Amsterdam
8.11.2008: Escape, Veenendaal
9.11.2008: Heksenketel, Roosendaal

Got a message on my MySpace the other day from a new Japanese band called M.Fille. It's a very promising visual gothic band with a female vocalist. The band consists of three members: Guitarist Link, keyboardplayer Youri and vocalist Cocteau. M.Fille has an interesting sound, which sounds to me like Nanase Aikawa in a gothic setting. Also check out their official MySpace for more soundsamples.

The new Keane album Perfect Symmetry from the British rockband Keane will officially be out next weer (Oct 13), but they have already put it up for free on Last FM. The full 11 tracks of this new album can be streamed for free. Yes, streamed, not downloaded, but that's still a very generous try before you buy offering. Take a listen and post your opinion, along with all the others, on the Last FM page.

The new Tricky single is a cover of the Kylie Minogue song Slow. Great version, but then again, so was the original. Check out the video above for a nice mashup of the original Kylie video with the Tricky version dubbed on top.

Above you can see the video Still Doll by singer and cellist Kanon Wakeshima. This song is also the ending theme for the anime Vampire Knight and was released last May. An interesting fact about this artist is that she is produced by Mana (ex-Malice Mizer, Moi Dix Mois).
More interesting is perhaps that a new single will be released this coming November 12. Once again this song, titled Suna no Oshiro, is produced by Mana and also once again, it's the ending theme for the anime Vampire Knight Guilty.

Erina Koyama is a new artist on Ryuichi Sakamoto's commmons label. Her international release AMMO is undoubtly one of the most wondrous releases of this year. The album is full of gritty electronics blended with traditional Japanese intruments, which is reminiscent of Sakamoto's own work or even the recent work of his fellow YMO-member Haruomi Hosono. Vocally Erina Koyama carries the sweetness of Yuki (ex-Judy and Mary) and the sharpness of Ringo Shiina. Yet comparing her to them wouldn't do her justice. Koyama does a lot more experimenting, while still managing to create pleasant structured songs. She mostly does all the work herself, from the composing/writing to playing all the instruments and mixing the final recordings. AMMO can be downloaded from iTunes. Also check out her official MySpace for more samples and video's of her work.
